Yes you will need to have a referral letter from you GP to make an appointment with any medical specialist. This ensures that the specialist is appropriate for your condition.

• Referral Letter
• Private health insurance details
• A current list of your medication
• Details of drug allergies
• A copy of the report for any investigations your GP has done for this condition ie ultrasound reports, CT reports
• A written list of question that you may like to ask

No. Your private health fund only covers you for inpatient services. But you can make a claim from medicare.

At your first visit Dr Velu will listen to your account of the problem you have been referred for and ask you questions. He will conduct an examination, review any X-rays or scan results that you have already had done.  Next, he will give you his opinion and recommendations.  A letter in regard to the outcome of the appointment is always dictated and sent back to your referring GP.
