Interventional treatment of DVT

8th August 2018

We recently made a presentation to Gp's in Townsville regarding Interventional treatment of DVT( blood clots in the leg) .

Early treatment by dissolving clots reduces long term side effects like chronic leg swelling, skin discoloration & ulcer formation.

Another issues discussed was May-Thurner Syndrome- once again a cause of swelling, varicose veins in the L leg. This is caused by the vein from the L leg being squashed  between the artery the spine. Very often this condition is not suspected, hence diagnosis is missed!!

This condition sometimes needs a stent for treatment.
